Between 2022 and 2024, Vasco documented and directed the audiovisual dimension of ZHA!, a community-based participatory project developed in the neighbourhoods of Campanhã, Porto
Promoted by Visões Úteis, ZHA! focused on social inclusion and the celebration of Roma cultural heritage through collective artistic creation. The project resulted in the album É a nossa vez!, three music videos, the stage performance LARAY!, and a feature documentary.
Following a co-creation process rooted in the lived experience of the community, Vasco directed three music videos and a documentary that capture the energy, presence and identity emerging from workshops, rehearsals and neighbourhood life.
Supported by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and the “la Caixa” Foundation (Partis & Art for Change programme), ZHA! stands as an example of art as a tool for collective empowerment.
